In each area of conserved land, GCE asks the communities what they need most and those become our initiatives. In the first one million acres of conserved lands, the initiatives that the Bantomba tribe prioritized are clean water, schools, healthcare clinics, women's income generation projects, sustainable farming and fishing programs, and basic roads and boats for transporting goods and services as well as materials needed to fulfill the other initiatives.
We are building 100 water wells, enough for every person in the conserved areas to have clean drinking water.
With the support of people like you, in February 2016, we built our first 5 wells, bringing clean water to 10,000 people.
We are building health clinics, enough for all the villages to have basic health care within short walking distance.
In 2016, we plan to break ground on the first health clinic.
We are building schools, enough for all children in the region to have a basic education.
In 2017, we will break ground on the first school.
